Response: Despite some weight regain after tirzepatide cessation, participants maintained a net reduction of body weight by 8.7% and 10.6% from the baseline of the SUROMOUNT-CN trial to the 26 weeks of post-cessation in the 10mg and 15mg, respectively.
WeightControl.com: What do you think might happen after a period longer than 6 months?
Response: We think that body weight might be further regained more or less in those subjects. Subjects had accepted consultation for healthy lifestyle throughout the trial. Those individuals who adhere well to lifestyle recommendations tend to have less weight regain following treatment discontinuation.
WeightControl.com: What should readers take away from your report?
Response: The body weight will be somehow regained after cessation of incretin based anti-obesity medicines. The healthy lifestyle is essential for long-term weight management. Body weight loss might be maintained with good compliance of lifestyle consultation. However, we found that only 7% of participants had good adherence to lifestyle consultations by self-report , which is consistent with observations in clinical practice.

Response: A longer period of follow-up and some intervention could be adopted in future study.
